Gluten Free Cheddar Grits

Gluten Free Cheddar Grits

Prep time: 20 minutes            Cook time: 40 minutes          
Total time: 1 hour

Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. shallots, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. garlic, minced
  • 2 c. milk, divided
  • 1 ¾ c. water
  • 1 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 c. Edwards Mill Yellow Grits
  • ½ c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • bacon crumbles, cooked

Instructions:

  1. In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté the shallots and garlic until translucent.
  2. In saucepot, bring 1 c. of milk, water, and salt to a boil. Add the Edwards Mill Yellow Grits. Bring back to a boil, then, reduce heat to a simmer. Cook covered for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. Stir in the remaining 1 c. of milk. Cook until the liquid has been absorbed and the grits are soft. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and top with the crumbled bacon. Serve immediately and enjoy.
