A work college since its inception in 1906, College of the Ozarks® Work Education Program provides over 130 unique work stations where students earn their education. Students do everything from mowing the grass to overseeing the campus fire station, and they produce some of the most delectable treats around. That’s what you’ll find here, a showcasing of College of the Ozarks students’ talents and trades - small-batch, handcrafted gifts and baked goods, including world-famous fruitcakes, delicious fruit spreads, and student-milled products. When you choose our campus store and online gift shop, know that you're supporting our students and that you've made a purchase with a purpose.
Try our mouth-watering recipes such as Blackberry Balsamic Vinaigrette, Apple Butter Muffins, Salmon with Peach Jalapeno Glaze, or even Cornmeal Dog Biscuits for man's best friend. All recipes make use of our fresh student-made products.

At College of the Ozarks - also known as Hard Work U - students work, rather than pay, for their education. At The Fruitcake and Jelly Kitchen, students craft mouth-watering, handmade fruitcakes using a classic recipe from 1933. What started as a small baking session by a home economics class has turned into a time-honored tradition enjoyed by thousands of people each year.

BOOKS FOR A CAUSE
Step back in time and enjoy reading about the history of College of the Ozarks in Miracle in the Ozarks – an inspiring story of faith, hope, and Hard Work U. Or check out The Four Generals of Hard Work U. – a true story about the extraordinary lives of ordinary Americans. Both books are written by College Chancellor, Jerry C. Davis and proceeds benefit College of the Ozarks' Camp Lookout, a summer camp for underprivileged children, and The Patriotic Education Travel Program.
