The Creek Rocks are an Ozarks folk duo led by banjoist Cindy Woolf and guitarist Mark Bilyeu. Longtime musical collaborators, the pair founded The Creek Rocks in 2015 after years of performing and recording together. Their debut album, Wolf Hunter, features sixteen traditional Ozark folk songs drawn from the collections of folklorists Max Hunter and John Quincy Wolf.
Known for Woolf’s singular voice and Bilyeu’s distinctive guitar work, The Creek Rocks blend traditional Ozark songs with original music inspired by the region. In 2024, they received the Artist in Resonance Fellowship from the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. They are currently researching folk song collector Sidney Robertson Cowell’s 1936–37 Missouri and Arkansas field recordings, with a new musical project based on that research slated for release in 2026.
We are excited for them to perform and educate simultaneously in the Si Siman Music Room which is a great space reflective of music history in the Ozarks.
