Apple Butter Dumpling

Servings: 8 Apple Dumplings

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13in. pan.
  2. Roll the biscuit dough out on a floured surface to about ½in. thick. Cut the dough into 7in. circles.
  3. Place 1 apple half on each circle and sprinkle with nuts and raisins if desired.
  4. Wrap the dough over the top of the apples and pinch the dough together to seal. Place each dumpling with the seam side down in the prepared baking dish.
  5. In a small saucepan, heat the apple butter, sugar, water, and butter over medium heat, whisking occasionally.
  6. When the butter is fully melted and all ingredients are combined, pour the mixture over the dumplings and reserve 1 c. to baste with.
  7. Place the dumplings in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, making sure to baste with the extra sauce every 15 minutes.
  8. Enjoy hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
