Cornmeal Dipped Onion Rings

Cornmeal Dipped Onion Rings

Prep time: 30 minutes            Cook time: 10 minutes          
Total time: 40 minutes

Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs. Sweet Onions, sliced
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. Edwards Mill Yellow Cornmeal
  • 1 ½ tsp. sea salt
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • oil for frying (or use air fryer) 

Instructions:

  1. Cut onions to ½in. thick slices and set aside.
  2. Whisk eggs and buttermilk in a small bowl. In another bowl combine dry ingredients and stir.
  3. Dip the sliced onion rings into the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, then back in the flour mixture. Repeat this process for each onion ring.
  4. Fry in hot oil for 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel and enjoy with Student-Made Pepper Jelly or try our Peach Mustard Recipe.
